Lake Okeechobee’s water level is up due to a lot of recent rain. That means several billion gallons of water will be dumped into the St. Lucie Estuary every single day. The river is so polluted with bacteria and algae that residents are being warned not to come in contact with the water. One Jensen Beach man is taking action against the dumping in the form of an online petition to Florida Governor Rick Scott. So far more than 11,000 people have signed it.
