Support Forever Florida Funding Now

1000 Friends of Florida LogoAfter voters overwhelmingly passed Amendment 1 in 2014, legislators misappropriated hundreds of millions of dollars in conservation funds for administrative overhead in state agencies, including vehicles and insurance policies. Conservation groups sued, and a circuit judge ruled in their favor. His ruling has been stayed pending an appeal. But there’s no question that spending Amendment 1 funds on administrative overhead is a slap in the face to all those Floridians who voted for land and water conservation.

Florida Forever is the nation’s premier program for acquiring and preserving natural and agricultural land. Gov. DeSantis has proposed investing $100 million in Florida Forever but the Senate calls for only $45 million, and the House proposes just $20 million. As Senate and House leaders reconcile their rival budget plans, contact your legislators and Gov. DeSantis to let them know to support $100 million as the bare minimum for Florida Forever.
