It looks like Brightline is facing a new lawsuit, this time from Communication’s giant, Sprint. It appears Brightline owes Sprint a bundle of money.
From the Orlando Sentinel:
Sprint sues All Aboard Florida for $646,266
Sprint Communications has sued All Aboard Florida for $646,266.
The lawsuit, filed recently in Miami federal court, comes just as All Aboard is preparing to launch new Brightline train service this summer between Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. An extension to Orlando is supposed to come later, originally targeted for 2019.
Sprint claims in the lawsuit that All Aboard has failed to reimburse it for the cost of relocating fiber optic lines along the Brightline route.
According to the suit, Sprint sent a bill to All Aboard for $882,767.24 in September and All Aboard sent partial payment of $236,500.84 in November. There’s no reference to any disputes about the bill in the lawsuit, but All Aboard hasn’t formally responded yet, and a spokeswoman for the company said it doesn’t comment on pending litigation.
