Former All Aboard Florida/Brightline President Michael Reininger faced repeated questioning about the funding of the high-speed passenger rails system during a subcommittee hearing on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials. Mr. Reininger claims the railroad is being financed only through private dollars. Yet the company continues to seek financing which includes public dollars.
Brightline says its rail service from Miami to West Palm Beach will start in 2017. The company says a second phase from West Palm to Orlando is planned for the future. There are no stops planned for the Treasure Coast. Concerns about safety for residents is extremely high.
