MARTIN COUNTY — County Commissioners on Tuesday voted 4-1 (Commissioner Sarah Heard dissenting) to move forward on the next step of
Pineland Prairie, a 3,400-acre mixed-use development west of Palm City, between Florida’s Turnpike and Interstate 95.
The Comprehensive Plan amendment — which changes the land-use designation to “mixed-use village” — next will be sent to various state agencies for additional approvals.
The commission made its decision after more than three hours of discussion, public comment and a presentation from Knight Kiplinger, Pineland Prairie land owner and editor-in-chief and president of Kiplinger Washington Editors.
