Boaters will have to wait when the St. Lucie Railroad bridge is down to allow freight and Brightline passenger trains to pass when the West Palm to Orlando route is fully operational.

A group of boaters held a protest on Saturday, July 16, 2022, over the amount of time that the St. Lucie River Railroad Bridge will close to allow Brightline trains to pass when the West Palm Beach to Orlando extension is fully operational. Organizers say that would like the bridge open for 30 minutes every hour, to allow boat traffic to pass under the bridge.
