VERO BEACH — The CBS 12 News I-Team continues our series of reports exploring the dangers of “bomb trains.” Railroad tanker cars carrying LNG, liquified natural gas, which could cause widespread damage if they were to de-rail or explode.
Florida is one of just two states that allow LNG to be transported on trains and our representatives in Washington are oddly quiet about the danger.
And it’s not just the media they won’t talk to about it.
When then Indian River County Commissioner Bob Solari went to Washington, to try to stop bomb trains along the Treasure coast – he could not get high enough up the ladder to talk with the decision-makers. And he says LNG moving on trains in Florida might never have been brought up at all – if not for Brightline.
The investigative reporter attempts to get a comments from several lawmakers in our area.
