Sadly, Indian Riverkeeper Mike Conner has spotted an algae outbreak near the Port Mayaca gates.
On Friday, April 9, 2021, the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) announced it would stop discharging water from Lake Okeechobee into the St Lucie River the next day because the lake had receded enough. The releases started on March 6, 2021.
