For the first time we hear from a familiar person on the Treasure Coast on how water will be managed by the new South Florida Water Management District Board in the future.
You may recall shortly after Governor Ron DeSantis took office he asked the prior board to resign. The agency plays an important role in flood control and Everglades protection in South Florida.
New SFWMD Governing Member Jacqui Thurlow-Lippisch, representing the Treasure Coast, appeared on “To The Point” with WPTV Anchor Michael Williams on July 14, 2019 to discuss several points including:
- A new mission statement with the environment in the forefront.
- A commitment to striking a balance between all interests (agricultural & environmental) with an understanding that each decision has an impact on everyone around Lake Okeechobee.
- Preparing South Florida for sea level rise.
