Federal Agency reports unusually high deaths of the Bottlenose Dolphin in the Indian River Lagoon

A federal panel has officially declared the deaths of more than 50 bottlenose dolphins this year in the Indian River Lagoon as unusual.

At least 54 bottlenose dolphins have died in the lagoon this year, almost three times the historical average. The elevated dolphin deaths have happened in the northern and central Indian River Lagoon in Brevard County.
