Five county commissioners — including Commissioner Doug Smith — on Tuesday approved a resolution voicing Martin County’s opposition to All Aboard Florida.
Smith’s “yes” vote marks a major departure from his previous stance of cautious support for the planned passenger rail service.
As recently as two weeks ago, Smith — then the only Treasure Coast official supporting All Aboard Florida — reiterated his position.
Martin County’s draft resolution touches on points brought up in similar resolutions by other local governments, including Stuart, Jupiter Island and Tequesta.
